Neonate Insular Pit Viper


A neonate green phase insular pit viper (Trimeresurus insularis) lies in ambush on a fallen bamboo stem. This cute little one was so small it could have fit in the palm of my hand. If you look closely you can see dark stripes on the skin beneath the scales running along the entire body.
